Acadia National Park on Mt. Desert Island in coastal Maine is the first national park east of the Mississippi and the only national park in the northeastern United States. Acadia is a diverse park, encompassing mountains, woodlands, ocean coastline, lakes, ponds, and wetlands. Its tallest mountain, Cadillac Mountain, is the tallest on the eastern seaboard and is one of the first places in the U.S. the sunrise can be seen. My family and I visited to witness the famous fall coloration, my first time seeing it up close in real life.
